Lady Lions Lose to Vikings

Loogootee hung with third-ranked Barr-Reeve for three quarters, but junior transfer Liz Horton buried four three-point daggers in the contest on her way to a game-high 20 points in Barr-Reeve’s 44-27 victory.
Freshman point guard Wynter Wagoner kept the hosts in the game early with two 3’s of her own, both coming early in the second stanza to cut the visitors lead to 14-10.
The Vikes, though, would double their output to 28 by the opening minute of the third frame while the Lady Lions only managed a meager free throw along the way.
Down 28-11, however, Loogootee roared back to cut the lead to 30-20 heading into the fourth and final quarter.
Another Barr-Reeve offensive run, this one a 12-0 bulge, ended all hopes of a late Lion comeback.
Trista Strange managed nine points, all of which came in the second half to stop the bleeding in the fourth period for her teammates.  Wagoner tallied her six on the two treys, Emily Callahan threw in five, Kelci Mann three, and Brittney Bateman two.  Kyanna Strange scored the first bucket of the game for two as well.
Along with the former Hatchet star’s offense, the Lady Vikes picked up nine points from their junior center Hilliary Fox, as the two combined to out-score the Lion squad.
In two quarters of junior varsity play, B-R won 18-4.
