Heritage Hills strolls by Lions

Host Heritage Hills was anything but kind to the visiting Lion baseball club as they soundly defeated Loogootee 14-4 in a game stopped in the sixth inning.
Lion pitchers struggled to find the plate throughout the ball game; in fact, the hurlers issued a dozen free passes on top of the 13 hits HH banged out.  Loogootee actually opened the scoring by plating two in the top of the first.  Patrick Bowling reached on an error and came around on Roland Slaubaugh’s RBI hit.  Derek Parsons scooted home on a passed ball after drawing a base-on-balls.
The Patriots had six of their first seven batters touch home, however, as they chased starting pitcher Wade LaMar after just 1/3 of an inning.
Bryce Wilz came on for 3 2/3 relief frames, and Kirk Lengacher pitched the fifth and part of the sixth before the game was called due to the ten-run rule.  Wilz gave up four tallies during his stint on the hill as did Lengacher.  Bowling and Parsons picked up ribbies in the second when the visitors pulled within 6-4 before the bats went stagnant.  T
The record sits at 3-2 as games on Friday and Saturday against Vincennes Rivet and Boonville were both washed out due to heavy rain.
