Lady Lions raid Southridge

Loogootee girls’ softball team made it two-for-two in dismantling Dubois County teams; this time around, Loogootee rallied from a first inning 2-0 hole to claim victory 5-2.
After a two-run single following a throwing error gave Southridge the initial lead, the Lions clawed their way back for the win.  A Jennifer Clark ground out scored Addison Dant in the top of the fourth to narrow the gap to one run.  Dant was filling in as a courtesy runner for sophomore slugger BreAnn Truelove who had scorched a double.  Truelove was back-a-hacking in the sixth as her solo homerun tied the contest 2-2.
The top of the seventh proved to be the difference as a go-ahead, two-out hit by Stephanie Chambers scored the third run, and then Truelove banged out a two-run double for more than enough insurance for winning hurler Rebecca Craney.  She went the distance in the pitcher’s circle as well as contributed two singles.  Jessica Padgett also had two base hits for the 2-2 Lady Lion softball outfit.
