Junior high Lions split Jeeps
The seventh graders, without their point guard Darian Stewart, smashed Northeast Dubois last Monday night 38-9.  By halftime, the lead was 26-3 as every player got into the game.
Hayden Bell and Gabe Nolley both hit double figures with 10 points.  Ben Blackwell and Dylan Street tossed in four each.  Josh Sibrel, Mac Osborne, Austin Mesarosh, Jayce Wagoner, and Jordan Berry all contributed one bucket.
The nightcap for the eighth grade was anything but pretty, however, as the Lions coughed one up at the wheel of the Jeeps 32-29.  Loogootee trailed throughout the first three periods of play in a lackluster effort.
The fourth frame was a six-minute frenzy as Matt Mathies’ offense and a much more active defense led by Gage Harder almost helped the local boys steal victory from the jaws of defeat.  Mathies had two separate three-point attempts miss in the last twelve seconds that would have possibly sent the game into overtime.  He scored 16, Brandon Wilz six, Dirk Fahey four, and Harder three.
